AGTAWAGON HILL

Served as a camp and the last line of defense of Filipino soldiers and guerillas during World War II.



History

In, 1942, The occupation by the Japanese troops entered in Balete, Aklan.
In 1945, beginning the liberation in the town of Balete, Aklan was fought between the battles of the combined American and Philippine Commonwealth Army forces including the recognized Aklanon guerrilla fighters against the Japanese troops during the Invasion of Balete during World War II. Meanwhile, the Japanese Imperial forces are defeated the town continued by the joint Filipino and American soldiers including the guerrilla fighters are victory until the end of War.

Agtawagon Hill, Balete

The Agtawagon Hill is Balete's pride. It is located at the southeastern part of Morales, about 7 kilometers. Away from the heart of the town. During the Philippine Revolution, the hill was the last line of defense of the Filipino patriots during the Spanish-Filipino conflict. The same hill had served as Camp of the Filipino soldiers and guerrillas during the Second World War. Foxholes had been built on the summit of the hill seeing the approaching enemies.
